The closing is the last step in the buying process. This is the time when you sign all the documents necessary to officially transfer ownership of the property to you.
The closing typically takes place at the title company's office. The paperwork involved includes your mortgage and bank note, along with a stack of documents designed to protect the lender's investment in the property. You will need to sign documents stating that you will keep the property in good repair, keep it properly insured, pay your mortgage on time, etc.
You have the option of having an attorney represent you during the process. Should you decide to use and attorney, they have the option of attending the closing.
Once the closing is completed, you will get the keys to the home, and be able to finally move in. It is the official start of your adventure in home-ownership!
