The village of Wimberley is located north of San Marcos in south central Hays County and Central Texas Hill Country. Established in 1848, Wimberley is a retirement and resort area featuring shady cypress trees, rolling meadows and grand hills, the frothy falls of the Blanco River, along with shimmering views of Cypress Creek.

The area has abundant recreational opportunities from camping, hiking, boating, and fishing to golf and tennis. Bed and breakfasts and youth camps are also common. The scenery appeals to the numerous artists and authors who call this area home, adding to the ambiance of Wimberley with several arts and handcrafted goods shops.

The community features Market Days the first Saturday of each month between April and December, which showcases over 450 booths of arts and crafts displays.
