Georgetown, TX - Williamson County

Population (2000 Census): 28,339
Georgetown is located 26 miles north of Austin and is the county seat of Williamson County. It was established in 1848 as a trade center for the agricultural region and named for George Washington Glasscock, who donated land for the community with his partner, Thomas B. Huling.
While offering all the amenities of a small, charming community, Georgetown has a central location within 2 hours of any of the 4 major metropolitan Texas areas, Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Tourism, tech industry, light manufacturing, and retail add to ranching and farming the fertile land as predominant economic draws to the area.
Housing in Georgetown runs the gamut from historic to modern homes. Main Street Project has brought about the restoration and preservation of much of the downtown’s Victorian commercial space.
