Dripping Springs, TX - Hays County

Population (2000 Census): 1,548
Dripping Springs is located 25 miles west of Austin in northern Hays County. Incorporated in 1981, the area has seen development of a number of commercial business parks. However, it continues to remain largely agricultural, with ranches raising everything from cattle and sheep to more exotic elk, buffalo, ostrich, and llama.
The original Dripping Springs were the water source for early settlers to the area as well as a gathering place. Today they are delineated by a granite marker donated by the D.S. Noon Lion’s Club. It is believed that the first person to settle here was a man by the name of Fawcett in 1849.
In the 20th century, Dripping Springs became the principal town in northern Hays County, with only minor variations in it’s steady population growth since the 1940’s. A community swimming pool, picnic area, as well as play and sport fields can be found at Founders Park.
