Creedmoor, TX - Travis County

Creedmoor is located 15 miles southeast of Austin in southern Travis County. There are several schools of thought with regard to the town’s original name. Some say it was called Willow Springs. Others believe it was known as Creekmoor. The name Creedmoor came about in 1880 conjunction with the community’s post office.
A cyclone which hit in 1921, destroyed Creedmoor’s schoolhouse and a local gin. This was followed by a drought in 1925. Cotton was a predominant local industry up through the 1950’s.
Creedmoor incorporated in 1982, the 9th community in the county to do so in order to avoid annexation by Austin.
